And it has nothing to do with Halloween.

Sun Sports and Fox Sports Florida have a new website in the works, one that will eventually replace the long-standing SunSportsTV.com.  It’s part of a national initiative among the Fox regional sports networks, one that will bring you tons more functionality in each site—video clips, expert analysis, program listings, live streaming scores, the whole nine yards.  Keep an eye out.  It’s supposed to debut this week, but we all know how these things can go sometimes…once it launches, I will make sure to post here.

Speaking of ‘here,’ this blog will be migrating to the new site once we’ve worked out all the kinks.  I’ll be writing not only my regular posts, but also contributing news and analysis on the teams that I cover most often (Magic, Lightning, Rays, Florida, Florida State, plus college football and basketball in general).  I’m looking forward to it, although it’s a lot of work to keep such a site updated.  Fortunately, we’ll have a dedicated webmaster (actually, a ‘Digital Content Manager’) who will be driving that bus.

So I did the sidelines for Prime Time Noles this week, and watched the shootout in Tallahassee up close.  Still not sure if I saw two great offenses or two porous defenses (over 1,000 combined total yards between the two teams).  Christian Ponder was an absolute warrior, I can assure you of that.  He played hurt from the first quarter on, much more so than it probably seemed on TV.  They were calling it ‘bruised ribs,’ but it was pretty much bruised everything.  The win keeps hope alive for a bowl bid for FSU; what it won’t do is bolster Ponder’s Heisman chances, although it probably should.  Seminole fans should shudder to think of where they’d be this year without Ponder.

Still on the road, working on a side project, and returning to Orlando tomorrow night.  Lots of Magic travel for me this month, including Oklahoma City, Boston, Toronto, a couple more.  The fall is very, very busy, but I suppose busy is good.

See you on TV.  And online, soon.

Nominations for the 2009 Suncoast Regional Emmy Awards were made public on Tuesday, October 20th.  FOX Sports Florida and Sun Sports are all over it.  Click at left to Read More.
