Post Your Questions For Tailgate Overtime

Trying something new this week...

If you're reading this and would like to post a question, comment, or topic for discussion for "Tailgate Overtime" (Mondays, 7pm, Sun Sports), please post it here as a Critique or use the Reply function and e-mail it to me. Then, watch the show and you might see your topic on TV.

Items for discussion this week may include:

* The FSU-Miami game (The Dolphin Stadium Downpour), which was the most bizarre collection of trick plays, momentum shifts, and general weirdness that I've seen on the field in a while. A halfback option? Lateral to a tackle? Kicking not one but two muffed punts out of bounds? Freaky game. Also, it was my debut as the play-by-play announcer for Prime Time Noles (Sundays, 7pm, Sun Sports), so feel free to blast my feeble skillz after you watch the replay tonight.

* UCF gets off the schneid, and possibly saves its season, by beating SMU. And a student group that hired an airplane banner to protest the Orlando Sentinel's coverage of UCF's program couldn't spell "Sentinel" correctly. For real.

* Florida wins, but everyone's miserable. And is Tebow hurt or what?

* FIU -- dangerous! And on a winning streak! Is it too early to drop Mario Cristobal's name in the hat as the next head coach at Miami? And can anyone explain to me how the so-called "Big Three" managed to whiff on T.Y. Hilton?

...or whatever else you'd like to hear us talk about. See you on TV.

Whit,
I recently wrote the following letter and sent it to the Rose Bowl Committe members and the Big 10 members as well, perhaps yo could air the letter and have a discussion with your panel and your viewer's as well... especially Mickey...

Gentlemen,
I have a great Idea for the Rose Bowl Committee to consider. Why not, allow the annual tradition of the Rose Bow to continue, between The Big 10 Champion vs The Pac 10 Champion, on an annual basis ... Since teams in both conferences only play 12 games each, during the regular season ... why not have the Rose Bowl sponsor and continue to host this great game on an annual basis ... by having the game played on the first week of December ... as the thirteenth game for each school ... and call the game THE ROSE BOWL SHOWDOWN … therefore creating on an equal footing with all the other BCS conference teams... that play 13 regular season games ... These games are played that first week of December ... Then the winner of that game will play in the BCS Rose Bowl in January or the BCS national championship game ... The years that the Rose Bowl host the BCS national championship game, the loser of the BIG 10 vs PAC !0 game would go to the Rose Bowl and the winner would probably play in the BCS championship game in the Rose Bowl ... those years would provide 3 games to be played in the Rose Bowl with a national audience and great exposure for both conferences, as well ... which equates to an extra game for the Rose Bowl ... which also, would provide additional revenue and TV exposure for the Rose Bowl ... it would also allow other BCS conferences teams to play in the Rose Bowl on an annual basis against a Big 10 or Pac 10 school ... I think this would be great exposure for the Rose Bowl's image throughout the country ... In addition, it would also help in determining ... who are the top two teams in the country ... I think this is a no brainer ... now, let's put some pressure on the Big 10 to change their bylaws in order to play this game on the first weekend of December and get the Pac 10 to concur ... then, all the BCS teams will be playing on a level playing field... I certainly hope you will consider and entertain this idea and talking with both conferences committee members .in the near future ... I do think it would be good for the Rose Bowl and college football.

Thanks for listing,

Dave, in Jax

Whit,
I was wondering howcome sunsports no longer has pre and post game coverage of Seminoles football games. I personally enjoyed the interviews with players, coaches and seeing the coach Bowden press conference.

Whit,
This question is for William Floydto answer during Tailgate Overtime. William I have noticed recently that Christian Ponder does not scramble as much as before. Do you think he is trying to make a statement that he can be a pocket passer? I saw a couple of situations during the Clemson/FSU game where he was sacked because he was locked in on his WR and didn't scramble to buy time. I love the show and thanks for allowing me to post my question.

Hey whit,

Caught the show and the discussion over college football playoff.

I agree with the plus 3 scenario, but the 2 semi final games should be played before Christmas.

The last weekend of the season is the first weekend in Dec. Wait 2 weeks and play the 1 vs 4 and 2 vs at nuetral sites. Then schedule the champ game like it is now, the last game of the season a few days after New Years.

It works beautiful. It allows the regular season, through the BCS raking, to establish the top 4 teams. 5 will always clamour since they are not in, but they won't have a huge greivance.

The semi's are scheduled for a week after finals, so no conflict with academics. It adds excitement to mid december when college footbal lapses for several weeks. Also eliminated would be the 50+ day layoff the champ game teams must endure. It would produce lots of revenue. The overall season would not be extended.

It would allow the conferences to maintain their bowl alliances. Conf champs go unless in the playoff, then the bowl can go to number 2 or wildcard outside of conference. The major games would still be very interesting and high quality.

Most importantly, it requires the champ to defeat 2 of the 3 other best teams to earn the crown.

I say use the BCS, but not necesarilly conf champs. Case in point is SoCal this year. Lost one to Oregon State, and OSU controls the conference by winning out. But with 3 losses overall they are way down in national ranking. SoCal has torn everyone up and could end up in the top 4 and would have earned and deserve a chance to play in the playoff.

Thanks for reading. I am a huge college football and colege sports fan in general. Love the show.
