Too Many Questions
Umm, the Orlando Magic have won four of their last five games. Has anyone noticed?
And while we're on the topic of surprises: in 12 games with Orlando, Darko Milicic has blocked 33 shots - more than he blocked in his last two seasons with the Pistons combined. You think maybe he was just a tad buried in Detroit? And you think maybe all that time that he spent getting hammered in practice by Ben Wallace maybe rubbed off on him?
With Darko on the bench, the Pistons won one NBA championship and came within one game of another, so you can't say they "blew it" or anything. Still, is anyone else wondering just what the hell Detroit was saving him for? Shouldn't Larry Brown have some culpability in this? And where was Joe Dumars?
On the topic of the Magic, I'm loving my previous comment about "Jameer Nelson as the draft day steal of the decade" more and more with each passing box score. Double figure scoring in 30 of 45 games this season; averaging less than two turnovers per game since returning from injury on March 3rd. Anybody think he's too short now?
And on the topic of Larry Brown - will he outlast Marbury in New York? Will either man outlast Isiah Thomas? How does Thomas keep getting hired for anything?
If you had to vote for NBA Most Valuable Player right now, would you take Dwyane Wade or Paul Pierce?
Is there any more unguardable player in the NBA than Wade? And is Miami really a better fourth-quarter team with Alonzo Mourning on the floor instead of Shaq?
You had Northwestern State, Montana, and Wisconsin-Milwaukee winning their opening round games, right? Me neither.
How high has Joakim Noah's stock risen in the last six months? If the NBA draft were held tomorrow, would he not be a first-round pick? Maybe lottery? You know he averaged 3.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in less than 10 minutes per game last season as a freshman at Florida, right? Is there any way that Billy Donovan can keep him in Gainesville this summer?
The United States didn't really fail to reach the finals of the World Baseball Classic, did we? And does anyone believe that Roger Clemens has pitched his last game?
Would you bet against Daunte Culpepper having a monster season in Miami next fall?
Ever made birdie on a par-3 by holing out from a bunker? I did, and I have witnesses lighter in the wallet to prove it.
Have you seen the killer new Sun Sports studio set? Wait, I know this one: no. But on Thursday, March 23rd, you will, when the Chevy Florida Fishing Report debuts for 2006.

8 Critiques:
I think when it's all said and done, D-Wade is my MVP. I watched 20 minutes of that Knicks game last night and just marvelled and how much of a game changer he is. He is unguardable. He plays faster than everyone else on the court.
I'd bet on Steve Nash winning the award again, though.
And I'd like to pencil in Avery Johnson as coach of the year now as well.
I think there's something to be said for 'Zo's d-fense being super important for those rough offensive stretches for the Heat. In the 4th quarter against everybody except maybe the Pistons, I'd play both Shaq and 'Zo together in spurts and against the Pistons, I might play them both when McDyess is replacing 'Sheed or Big Ben.

Jason T --
Full disclosure: I first heard the "Mourning-in-the-4th" comment from a former NBA coach, but I have been watching Miami lately and it's true -- Riles is playing Mourning when the Heat need defensive stops, especially in crunch time. Not sure what this says about the Diesel.
I think you're right about Nash as MVP. My criteria is this: "how well would the team do without him?" Phoenix would struggle, as would Miami without Wade, but the Heat still have Shaq. Nash will probably get it.
Avery as coach of year? I'll buy that, too.
Thanks for the comment.

Sorry man, Jameer may be a draft day steal, but you are not gonna find a better draft day steal than Manu Ginobili...he was the second to last pick in the whole draft, and I'll bet your not gonna find many GM's who would rather have Nelson than Manu.

Hey, ANY player drafted in the second round who sticks can be considered a steal. Consider just the last three drafts before '05, and the guys taken in the second round who have made any sort of impact:
Anderson Varejao, Zaza Pachulia, Kyle Korver, Carlos Boozer, Flip Murray, Rasual Butler. That's it, from '02 through '04. Point being, if a 2nd-round pick makes a roster, he's already beaten the curve. Ginobili already had eight years of professional hoop under his belt by the time he debuted with the Spurs -- is that a "steal," or did San Antonio just do their homework and take a flyer?
Nelson's resume upon entering the '04 Draft, as copied from NBA.com:
"Consensus National Player of the Year as a senior, earning The Associated Press, Wooden, Naismith, Rupp, Robertson and Chevrolet Player of the Year awards. Shared the NABC top player award with Connecticut’s Emeka Okafor. Chosen Player of the Year by The Sporting News, ESPN.com, SI.com and FoxSports.com. Unanimous Associated Press First Team All-America selection. Named Atlantic 10 Player of the Year. Winner of the Francis Pomeroy Naismith Award, signifying top player in the country 6-feet and under. Finished as St. Joseph’s career leader in points (2,094), assists (713) and steals (256). Had his number retired by the school on April 23."
Plus, there was the small matter of a 30-2 record as a senior. And he dropped to 20th? Because he was too short? Are you kidding?
Ginobili was a gamble, but a safe one. Nelson dropping out of the lottery was a crime. San Antonio was smart; Orlando was lucky. That's why I call Jameer a "steal."

Let me politely interrupt here for a moment if I may. Your credit score can be improved although bad credit and mortgage lates are financing loans. This credit repair mortgage repair bad credit bankruptcy loan foreclosure is of course a possibility. That is rescoring for an equity loan and credit repair even if it is delinquent.
